Raymond Briggs a retrospective

A tale of the illustrator who spoke truth to power

Cambridge Arts Round Up Episode 53

In this edition we preview the Raymond Briggs Retrospective summer exhibition at Cambridge University Library and hear of an extraordinary artist who captivated a whole generation of children with curator Katie McCurrach.

We investigate a heated debate about wealthy businessman William Gredley’s statue of Prince Phillip which won’t stay put, that some people want to move along …and is also raising much more than an appreciative eyebrow among residents of a Cambridge neighbourhood.

And we visit AKA Contemporary, a new art gallery which promises to be an oasis for local talent and draws in key artists from across the region providing an Alladin’s cave of new work in three new adjoining galleries.
