Anne Garvey writes on the Arts for The Cambridge Critique and is a well known local figure in the Arts scene. She is a novel writer and journalist in national papers and magazines including the Guardian, Observer and Cosmopolitan magazine. She specialises family and relationship issues and her house parties are something of a must on the social calendar.
“I was born and bred in Yorkshire. I still miss the landscape, the open moors and the friendly people. In Cambridge I got a job with the go-ahead free wheeling 70s team at the Advisory Centre for Education. Soon I was writing articles for their magazine Where and papers on minorities . My first publication was Chinese Children.
I have written ever since for magazines ; Cosmopolitan, Woman’s Journal, Nova, – and newspapers ; the Sunday Times, Observer, New Society and latterly the Guardian and a few articles in The Times. Obviously like all journalists I have a novel in the bottom drawer.
Later I broadcast on Woman’s Hour and every week on Radio Cambridge. When Cambridge Community Radio morphed into a franchise I presented a daily show for Café Radio later Red ( dynamic News Editor Simon Bertin)
Today I write for the on-line magazine I began, The Cambridge Critique which covers performance , art, theatre and even lifestyle.”
